To share the ISO images, you will perform the following tasks:

  1. First, create a shared folder in Windows on the VMM server.  In this folder, you will store the ISO images that you intend to use with VMM.  Share the folder as you normally would and specify your service account that you use in your VMM login usually this is your
  2. Active Directory domain account as the VMM service account on the VMM server.
  3. Configure the required share and NTFS permissions on the VMM library share that stores the ISO image files.
  4. Configure constrained delegation for the Hyper-V host.
  5. Configure the virtual machine to share an ISO image file.

Let’s start to do the Inventory Library

Step 1: Create a folder in your C:\ drive called ‘Share_ISO’ and copy all your .iso installers inside this folder that you going to use in your daily operation. In this example I copied installer for Windows 2012 R2 and Windows 2008 R2 .iso files. And then enable the ‘Sharing’

Step 2: Login to your SCVMM using your A.D credentials

Click Library -> Library Servers -> “hostname of your server” -> right click -> Add Library Shares

Step 3: In here you will find the folder that you shared called “Share_ISO” in and the share path is “C:\Share_ISO” and click/check the box then hit next button

Step 4: Confirm the settings and save the script for future reference by clicking the “View Script” save that script text and then click the button “Add Library Shares” to finish the wizard.

After that you should able to see your .iso installer files as shown in the image below

Step 5: Now configure and create VM then under

Bus Configuration -> Virtual DVD Drive -> Existing ISO Image -> Browse

Then select the installer you want here then click ‘OK’ button.

That’s it done.
